Missouri Preservation Conference

Due to venue booking and logistical concerns, The City of Hannibal and Missouri Preservation have decided to move the dates of the Missouri statewide Historic Preservation Conference, previously scheduled for October 19-21, 2016.

THE NEW MISSOURI PRESERVATION CONFERENCE DATES ARE MAY 17-19, 2017.

Rescheduling for the May 2017 dates will allow us to better suit the needs of the preservation community and will provide an opportunity for us to celebrate National Preservation Month during the conference.  Please plan to attend the 2017 Hannibal conference and explore the region’s rich heritage.

We look forward to an enhanced experience for our local preservation commission members, consultants and preservationists both seasoned and beginner, due to the extra planning time. Please watch your mailbox and email for more information on registration as it becomes available.  Hotel reservations can still be made at any time at the Mark Twain Best Western with a special rate of $83.00 per night using the code “Missouri Preservation.” Call the hotel directly to book your room at (573)248-1150. We suggest that you call to cancel any October reservation you may have made.

For more information, contact Missouri Preservation at (660)882-5946 and check out the CONFERENCE tab for future updates.

From IPhone 071213 653

Since its authorization by Congress in 1976, the HPF has done great things for our historic resources by sharing funds with our State Historic Preservation Offices. Many Missouri communities have benefited from our SHPO’s grants and assistance over these forty years. Radio Radio…

Recently, Missouri Preservation had the honor of spending time with KBIA’s Trevor Harris. KBIA is Mid-Missouri’s public radio station located in Columbia, Missouri. Trevor, a former urban planner, is not only the classical music host but takes turns on the Thinking Out Loud episodes. On a sunny day in April, Trever spent a portion of the day at our office and on a site visit. We discussed historic preservation, our upcoming Places in Peril announcement, and visited Glasgow’s Campbell Chapel AME Church, a former Place in Peril (nee Most Endangered)

Check out this great episode which aired 5/5/15 at 6:30 p.m. on KBIA:
